Our Trip to MOTAT

On Friday 28th August we went on a trip to MOTAT with the other Year 3 classes. When we got there we waited for our guide to show us around, he showed us where to eat and where to go toilet.

After morning tea we got split up into groups and we went exploring around the place. We found the laser maze, the trains, old video games, old telephones, the old school house and we found the big interactive zone where we got to try lots things. There was a big tower that had lots of photos, we got to scan ourselves onto it so we could see out funny faces. 

After we explored we got our bags and we went to wait for the tram to take us to the Aviation hall. The tram went past the zoo, over the road and past Western Springs College. When we got to the last stop we saw Whaea Lois and Room 11 waiting, we gave them a big wave.

We had lunch at the Avation Hall while we were waiting. After lunch we got to go and look around at all the planes,  as well as try on some old uniforms. We had a look through the binoculars which made everything look close and really big!

After that we met Abbey and she took us upstairs into the classroom. We talked about flight and the four forces which are LIFT, WIEGHT, THRUST and DRAG. We got to do some fun activities such as

- We had to try keep the ping pong ball floating above the hair dryer
- We got a cup of water and placed the card on top and flipped it over and hoped that it stuck
- We made paper wings and tried to fly them in the wind tunnel
- We tried to hit a target with the helicopter wings

We had heaps of fun trying these activities and learnt lots of new things.

It was time to go home so we had to quickly go outside to the bus because he was waiting for us!

ROOM 12/14 ASSEMBLY!

We had sooo much fun working with Room 12 creating an item for our joint assembly in Samoan Language week!

Out with the old in with the new!

Welcome back to Term 2!

Today the Proud Panthers got a wonderful surprise when Mr Vasau told them that they were getting new furniture for our classroom.

First we had to take our old chairs and desks out to make space, they were really heavy! Then we got to go to the hall and get all of our new tables and chairs. It makes our classroom look really cool and colourful!

Rugby Skills

Rugby skills with Manurewa Rugby Club

For the first time this year we were able to learn some rugby skills from the awesome team from Manurewa Rugby Club. Room 12 & 14 were split into 3 different groups where we learnt different rugby skills like passing, catching and running. We were very tired and thirsty by the end of our session BUT we had so much fun
