Jelly Bean's Music Programme
For the first 5 weeks of term 4 we have the 'Jelly Bean Music Programme' coming into our school to take us for some hands on music lessons.
Room 14 has already had a chance to play drums, triangles, tambourines, recorder and the glockenspiel. We have been learning about rhythm and how to keep a beat.
We are enjoying being able to play with the instruments and get some fun hands on time.
Here are a few photos from our lessons so far!

Duffy Show!!
Today Room 14 and the other IA and HF classrooms went to the hall to watch the Duffy show. Their names were Olive, Siena and Bob!
It was so much fun, because they dressed up as different characters from the stories. They dressed up like Harry Potter, Cleopatra, and had Dinosaurs and snakes to give us a shock! They were really funny and made us laugh a lot.
The show talked about reading and how important it is for us so we can learn about lots of different things. We have to use our imagination while we are reading books with no pictures. We can write down all our crazy ideas and make them into stories.

PARK and WALK DAY!
On Thursday 10th September, Rowandale School had a Park and Walk day. This is to keep us fit and healthy and also teach our children how to be safe when walking to and from school.
We had lots of people meet us at the park and the church. It got very wet while we were walking but we all kept smiling. When we got to school we all got to have a hot chocolate with a marshmallow.
YUMMMY!!
Here are some photos.

Our Trip to MOTAT
On Friday 28th August we went on a trip to MOTAT with the other Year 3 classes. When we got there we waited for our guide to show us around, he showed us where to eat and where to go toilet.
After morning tea we got split up into groups and we went exploring around the place. We found the laser maze, the trains, old video games, old telephones, the old school house and we found the big interactive zone where we got to try lots things. There was a big tower that had lots of photos, we got to scan ourselves onto it so we could see out funny faces.
After we explored we got our bags and we went to wait for the tram to take us to the Aviation hall. The tram went past the zoo, over the road and past Western Springs College. When we got to the last stop we saw Whaea Lois and Room 11 waiting, we gave them a big wave.
We had lunch at the Avation Hall while we were waiting. After lunch we got to go and look around at all the planes, as well as try on some old uniforms. We had a look through the binoculars which made everything look close and really big!
After that we met Abbey and she took us upstairs into the classroom. We talked about flight and the four forces which are LIFT, WIEGHT, THRUST and DRAG. We got to do some fun activities such as
- We had to try keep the ping pong ball floating above the hair dryer
- We got a cup of water and placed the card on top and flipped it over and hoped that it stuck
- We made paper wings and tried to fly them in the wind tunnel
- We tried to hit a target with the helicopter wings
We had heaps of fun trying these activities and learnt lots of new things.
It was time to go home so we had to quickly go outside to the bus because he was waiting for us!
